Makers, Crafters and Performers wanted for first annual Champlain Mini Maker Faire on September 29

Shelburne VT, June 12, 2012 — Maker Faire is coming to Vermont! The first annual Champlain Mini Maker Faire is scheduled for Saturday, September 29, at the Shelburne Farms Coach Barn.

The Call for Makers, Performers and Crafters is open now through July 30. Any groups or individuals interested in participating in this inaugural event should complete the simple application at www.champlainmakerfaire.com by the end of July.

The Champlain Mini Maker Faire takes after its enormous parent event, Maker Faire, which hosts 90,000 visitors in San Mateo in May. The Champlain Maker Faire will be a smaller, community-focused event, but will follow the Maker Faire model of celebrating do-it-yourself creativity and tinkering.
“Make, create, craft, recycle, build, think, play and be inspired by celebrating arts, crafts, engineering, food, music, science and technology.”

Featuring both established and emerging local “makers,” the Champlain Maker Faire is a family-friendly celebration featuring rockets and robots, DIY science and technology, urban farming and sustainability, alternative energy, bicycles, unique hand-made crafts, music and local food, and educational workshops and installations. Some of the participating Makers include:

– The Mood Cube. Control light and mood remotely.
– Cycle the Tower of Power. Installation generates energy and light from biking.
– Sun Tracker. A sound installation tracks the sun.
– Manspider. A full sized spider you can ride.

More makers and creators will be listed and featured on www.champlainmakerfaire.com after the Call for Makers closes on July 30.

The Champlain Mini Maker Faire is fortunate to have CMF, Inc as its sponsor and non-profit beneficiary. CMF Inc was formed to promote a culture of innovation by acting as a catalyst to stimulate public awareness of creativity, innovation, problem solving, and technological solutions that integrate the arts, engineering, and technology as casino pa natet well as collaboration among individuals and firms.
